August 10, 2007Fall is in the Air
The days are getting shorter and the nights have begun to cool again. The cycle of life continues. I'm still waiting for my new hens to begin to lay.
Television always gets busy this time of year, it has taken me away from the ranch and helped to fill the days. My new gelding is responding well to training.
But like any old friend, the stall where Fancy lived is too empty.
Horses live for twenty years if well cared for. Fancy was 23, and lived for 16 years in my care.
Or maybe it was more I had the privilege of being trained by her in the way to lead my life during that time.
Living fully means to love; loving another living being means attachment and the inevitable loss leads to suffering.
Fancy loved summer fruit. I eat a peach for her every day.
