Hoppy B-Day
Not every day here is chicken based. My sister celebrated a round number birthday this week. She has not been feeling well and is considering asking her company to put her on disability leave. So I wanted to do something that would lighten the mood a bit.
Every time we went to the grocery store she'd been looking at a marked-down display of ceramic Easter bunnies. She was torn between liking them and feeling they were a frippery. So on the day before her birthday, I bought them. All 14 of them. I practice negotiation with this kind of purchase -- I would not have been unhappy if I had to walk away from them so I offered a very low price and got the lot. The store was happy they didn't go in the trash.
My sister attended an evening meeting the night before her birthday and came home late. When she opened her window the next morning to start work at her desk, here's what she saw--
