Every day the young chicks are larger and more vigorous. Our chicken
barn is too small for them to all crowd onto the top roost, which
is of course the most desirable, so there is a lot of jockeying for
position.
I've sold eight of the 25 chicks. I've still got another six or seven
to go, so I'll end up with the dozen I want. Guess it's time to put
up a sign at the local feed store.
It's been a week of fixing up and prepping for cold weather and winter.
We built a pump house this week, and closed in the old chicken door
hatch of the old henhouse, which is moving over to becoming a studio.
It's very cosy, now that I've cleaned it out and put in a little space
heater. Still has a lot of chicken energy in there, with the silent
echo of soft clucking sounds and peaceful chicken sleep whenever you
enter the space.
