4-H approval
But today in reading the poultry catalog I am reminded that I really
like buttercups, and they're critical on the American Poultry Breeds
Conservancy rating. Maybe a few buttercups, too.
Generally, when starting an online business you know what it is you're
selling. I started with a short video about how to butcher a chicken
because that was the one thing that is really hard to learn from books.
Then hatcheries suggested that I include a section about raising chicks
and caring for birds. When that sold well, my newest version added information
aimed at 4-H kids. I'm trying to get the new DVD approved by national
4-H but it is a process of going through USDA CSREES bureacracy. Complicated
by one executive having medical problems that have kept her out of the
office for much of the time since July.
I created a funny outlaw chicken bumper
sticker to promote the video. But in the past week I've sold almost
a hundred bumper stickers, and two videos.
Is it NAIS?(see the NoNAIS link/
pro NAIS links)Or just serendipty that so many people want the sticker
all at once? I don't know. Are people are reselling them, giving them
away, or are outlaws who keep illicit chickens in their yards starting
to advertise their status? I hope all of the above.
