Cold Weather
My hens enjoy the cooler weather we've been having. Last night was a
true winter storm, blustery and cold with driving small raindrops falling
horizontally. Birds (including chickens) seem to be able to tell whether
it is just a cloudburst or whether it will settle in for an all day
rain. If birds are out scratching for grubs during a rain, it is going
to last a while. If they're huddled in a dry spot waiting, then the
storm will pass quickly.
So when today today dawned clear cold and windy, my hens were rested
up from sitting in their henhouse over night. Our winter storm blew
through and the hens were demanding to know where breakfast was. I obliged.
Peace returned. It takes so little to make them happy...
