Hard Days
I wonder if chickens have bad days? Of course, being chosen to be the guest of honor for dinner is a bad day for a chicken, but mainly their lives seem pretty even compared to ours.
But even chickens have bad days, I think. The day where you just miss that fat grasshopper, where the other hens muscle you out of the bread bucket and where the egg you lay is a little LARGE and hurts coming out. So I guess that chickens have off days too.
It's hard to remember that when us humans are running late, looking at the traffic stacked up on the freeway or the pile of bills to be dealt with in the in box. We all have days where everything falls into place without effort, where the right decision is clear every instant. That balance is so tricky to achieve, most of us go through life daily looking at the chaos around us and sorting our path one step at a time.
God grant me the serenity to see the right step this instant. I pray that a lot.
